Main Advantages and Properties of Corten

KNG has been handling sales and shipments in the Corten sector since 2010.  has been a well-established company that grows day by day. Our goal is to offer our customers first-class service along with care and attention.

Our market for Corten steel serves a wide range of thicknesses, from 1.5 mm to 30 mm. The thicknesses we keep heavily in stock—2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 8mm, and 10mm—are particularly in high demand from our customers in the Turkish market and are effectively used in a variety of projects. Due to this high demand, we always have these thicknesses in our inventory, allowing us to deliver them to our customers quickly.

Our premium special materials are always a different option for building facades, interior designs, and urban design projects.

Weather-Resistant Steel  Also known as COR-TEN, our product develops a protective, rust-like patina over time due to weather conditions. This feature is one of the main reasons the product is preferred. From a design perspective, this patina highlights the product by not only giving the steel a distinctive and organic look but also increasing its durability and longevity as a protective layer.

Architectural Facades: Corten is a popular choice for facades. Our product, which evolves over time, offers a striking and dynamic appearance, adding character to buildings. The natural weathering process and the rich, dynamic effect it creates during this process allow it to adapt and differentiate itself in outdoor spaces instead of simply aging. For this reason, it is highly preferred by architects looking for a different material.

Interior Design: In interior spaces, Corten can be applied in many different styles depending on the design language. It creates a warm, earthy style when used with traditional interior materials, especially for walls, decorative panels, and custom furniture. This allows for creative expression in design.

Urban Design: Corten is an indispensable material for landscape designs, with many areas of use such as artworks, signs, benches, and dividers.

It withstands tough outdoor conditions and requires minimal maintenance. It is used in parks, streets, and public areas.  It offers an aesthetic visual as a material that evolves, rather than ages, in nature. With its structure that harmonizes with nature, it contributes to environmental sustainability.

Types:

A242 (ASTM A242): Also known as Corten A, this type is commonly used for light structural applications. It has high resistance to atmospheric corrosion and is typically used in structures like bridges and buildings.

A588 (ASTM A588): Also known as Corten B, this type is primarily used for heavy and load-bearing structures.

A242’ye göre daha yüksek dayanıklılığa sahiptir ve genellikle köprüler ve işaretler gibi yüksek yaya trafiği olan alanlarda bulunur.

A606-4 (ASTM A606-4): This type is thinner than the other varieties and is generally used for decorative applications such as architectural trim, edging, and artwork. It is also used for siding and roofing materials.

A709-50W (ASTM A709-50W): This is a weather-resistant steel grade frequently used in bridge construction. It has corrosion resistance similar to A588 but is used in higher-stress applications.

A847 (ASTM A847): This type is used for cold-formed welded applications, such as square and rectangular tubing. It is common in architectural applications due to its durability and aesthetic appeal.

A871-65 (ASTM A871-65): This is a high-strength, low-alloy steel used for situations requiring improved atmospheric corrosion resistance. It is often found in energy transmission and telecommunication towers.

Each type of **Corten** weather-resistant steel has specific features for different applications. When choosing the right type for a project, factors such as environmental conditions, desired durability, and appearance must be considered. The choice is typically a balance between aesthetic appeal (the rusty, weathered look) and structural integrity (corrosion resistance and load-bearing capacity).
